Jim,
I've had my 1984 5.0 T-Bird for a little
over a year now and I've done some nice stuff to it.
So far most of it has been cosmetic modifications,
but there are a few performance upgrades. One good
thing is to get rid of that old factory exhaust and put
on a new high flow true dual exhaust system. I spent
$1500 on mine but that's because it's all top names
like flowmaster and hedman hedders, you may not want
to spend quite as much. Another good one is to take
a dual snorkel air cleaner from the mid 80's
mustangs and change it with your current single snorkel
air cleaner, you'll get much more air coming into
your intake. I've also upgraded from the ugly 14 inch
polyfoam wheels to a set of 15x7 inch aluminum wheels from
a 1982 mustang GT, they were a huge improvement in
performance and looks as well. I'm planning on doing a
complete engine rebuild and upgrade in the near future.
Everything from pistons to intake manifolds and valves will
be upgraded to performance parts. A supercharger is
definitely going to be added as well along with the rebuild,
and maybe a small shot of NOS for the drag strip as
well. I plan to be pushin about 400+ horses by the time
I'm done with it. Well, if you have any question on
where to get parts for cheap let me know, I have some
good sources. Good luck!
Tim
