A weird thing happened yesterday. I was driving down the road, like normal, and, all of a sudden, the engine started straining and lost most of its power. I jockeyed the gas pedal to no avail. I played with the shifter; nothing. It was making that sound you get when you first start it up on a cold day and give it too much gas right off the bat. I pulled over for a second or two and gave it another try. It ran fine until I made the return trip home when it did the same thing. I thought about the fuel filter but if it were clogged would this not be a constant problem rather than an INTERMITTENT one? I am running 302, Edelbrock, electric pump, and Holley fuel regulator. My plugs look fine and my wires SEEM to be intact. Anyone want to take a shot at this?

If I give it anymore love my wife will become extremely jealous. I fear that sabotage will ensue shortly thereafter.

It might be several things...carb is off, bad gas, clogged fuel filter. One that comes to mind (and if I'm way off, someone let me know) is that the timing chain that's going. You can check it by: 1. Make sure the vehicle is turned off. 2. Take off the dist cap 3. Turn the radiator fan blade by hand and watch the dist rotor. If there is a significant lag in the rotor reacting to you turning the fan blade, then it could be the timing chain. It's been years since I owned a Bronco...but I remember that my chain got too loose (stretched out) after wear and tear and caused similar symptoms. It was intermittent for a while. Dan
