I had a problem with 1999 Ford Explorer idling and here is what needed to be done. Go to my web site and click on IAC on the left side of the page. http://wgsite0.tripod.com/99_explorer.htm Wayne The IAC stands for Idle Air Control motor. This component caused, as you may suspect, my Explorer not to idle and stall out when I did not have my foot on the accelerator. This component failed at about 49K miles...

Replaced mine at 42K. Was particularly problematic in cold temps.
