Anybody else experience this? It is an intermittent problem I've come across. After I turn my ZX3 off and take the key out of the ignition, the (stock) radio turns back on all by itself. Sometimes it stays on, other times it comes on the goes back off.
Is my car possessed????
-Karen

I have seen this comment about the radio in many messege boards. Could someone give those of us who are about to purchase one a solid reason why this is happening? I don't want to leave my car in the car park and the radio keeps playing.

Anyone?

Thanks
~Chelly
(soon to be a 2002 ZX3 Owner)

Mine did this also, but just once, when i first bought it. Its never done it again. Ive got 16k on my car, and ive got a 2000. I would just take it to the dealer. Im sure you know you can turn the radio on without the keys in. sounds like a bad relay, or theres an electrical surge everytime you turn the car off and its running through your radio.

The Ford Focus radio can be turned on for one hour without the key in the ignition, is it possible you are hitting the power button when you take out the key?

Brandon

I have no idea if this has anything to do with an ignition problem or not. It seems the radio has an option of staying on for an hour like the others say. I do know, however, that Ford is doing another huge recall on ignition switches from 198? to 199?. Can't "recall" the exact years at the moment.

~Chelly
(just got the final quote on my 2002 ZX3!)

I've had ignition problems as well but nothing to do with the radio. I had problems getting the key to turn in the ignition to start it so I took it to the dealer and they replaced it. It only took 2 days for them to do the ignition switch. The warrenty covered it too. Seeing how Ford had that ignition recall recently and now all these problems with the focus ignition, I would recommend maybe that you have the ignition replaced.
