Gentlemen, my 99 Eddie Bauer has suddenly began the heater fan running when I turn off the engine?

It seems to work fine with the engine running.....off, on, speed is variable jsut like normal. But when I turn off teh ignition the blower runs like on high!

I unhooked the battery and of course it stops. When I connectthe battery after a minute or two it DOES NOT RUN? But as soon as I crank it up and shut it off it runs again.

Please help!!!
