on the stock airbox there is a small black tube that comes out the side of it and then heads off somewhere in the back of the engine compartment. Does anybody know what this is?  and could it effect how my car idles

I think your looking at the IAT sensor. Dont disconect it or your car will run like shit, it goes to the computer. >
