I'm new here and I'm new in the area of Escort GTs. I'm a first year driver with a 1987 Escort GT that is in good shape. My dash is the worst part of it. I was wondering if you could change dashes between a 86 and 87. I found a 86 and I think that most if not all parts can be interchanged. Am I right? My dash is grey and if any one has one for sale, I might be interested. Please let me know. Thank you very much.

'86 should be compatible with '87. I won't stake my life on it, but I think most parts on anything from '81 to '90 are compatible; I know all American Escorts prior to '91 are considered 1st generation escorts. I've never pulled the dash out of my '93 GT, but if my experiences with other Fords are any indication, you've got a big (not to mention nerve-wracking, knuckle-busting, and migraine-causing) job ahead of you. It would be worth it, though; I baby my dash and I will go ballistic when I see the first crack :)
