hi i'm interested in getting the zx3 because the reviews seem pretty good but yet the comments i read here are rather off-putting... so i was wondering if you would recommend me to get this car? and also how much did you ppl pay? I've been quoted a out of door price of 13950 for a premium with nothing extra, is this a good deal?

Im the owner of a 2001 ZX3 and have only had it for 3 1/2 months. The only thing I can complain of so far is gas mileage. I agree with you that some of the messages here make me a little nervous and I hope that I don't encounter all those problems. As far as my experience has gone I would recommend buying one. I can say one thing about color choice. Mine is egg yolk yellow and while I love the color expect to clean it constantly! Everytime it rains the rear gets filthy. One question to you. Will you still be getting the 0 % financing?

Hey there. I'm the proud owner of a 2001 ZX3 in dark hunter green. The only problem I've had was very minor. The turn-signal would not shut off automaticaly. It took him about 20 minutes to install a new switch. The mpg could be better, but overall, I love mine. I get so many compliments on it. List price on mine was $13,700. I paid less, because I work for Ford, but yours sounds fair. The only thing I wish it had was a moonroof.

i'm not too sure about that... i'll ask my dealer. Another question, what about insurance? how much should i be paying? and know of any good companies? progressive is offering $1263, but that is really the bare minimum, what kind of coverage do i need?

I have a silver '01 ZX3 S2 and love it. Other than a little squeek from the rear breaks now and then the car is holding up well (10,590 mile and counting).

Joe
http://www.550spyder.50megs.com/

I have a 2001 ZX3 Hunter Green with every option but auto and traction control. I paid $15,000 exactly (plus dealer fee) and I think list was closer to 16,500 and I also got 0% loan for 60 months so my payment is $255.

As far as insurance goes I found that Progressive was lowest amoung all the ones you could get online quotes for. According to Edmunds.com the Focus is one of the least expensive cars to insure. I would say get AT LEAST 50,000 per person and 150,000 per incident for your insurance, and 100,000/300,000 would be even better. If you don't have enough insurance and God forbid you get into an accident and they can prove it's your fault you can be SCREWED for the next 20 years getting a wage garnishment on your paycheck. (I'm an accountant and I've seen this happen first hand). Saving $20 a month is not worth it if you are only carrying the bare minimun in your state. Also be sure to get uninsured motorist coverage especially if there are a lot of uninsured people where you live or illegal aliens. (I know that sounds bad but I live near DC but according to AAA every 6th driver on the road here has no insurance) A good way to save money on insurance is to get a high deductible on your collision and comprehensive (mine is $1000). This would mean if you got into an accident and it was your fault, or if a car fell on your car, you would pay the first $1000 yourself but you can save a lot.

Sorry for the long answer!

Ben

I meant a tree falling on your car not a car falling on your car.

I have a 2000 ZX3 with around 19,500 miles. I really have no complaints at all other than the recalls. Thats what you get with a 1st yr model of any car. I really wouldnt put a lot of stock in what you read in some of the posts here. The MPG that everyone seems to be complaining about is NOT that bad. Im getting about 250-275 per fill up with very few highway miles. If you are worried about road noise etc... I can tell that yes, it does sound like you are riding in a car and not sitting at home on the couch. Just remember that you are buying a $13,000 "entry level" car and not a $40,000 BMW!

I have to admit I agree with you. I also have a 2000 ZX3. I just hit 17,000 + and I still love mine. I too have had some recall repair done on it, but how hasn't. I mean it is a Ford. I really enjoy driving it. I would love to buy the SVT model if I could afford it.

I love this car, this car has good value, THOUGH i hate most about this car is FORD product, their service is terrible, and the recalls is annoying, i didn't get loan car when i fixed my recall.
but overall with this kind of money zx3 is still best value to buy, and good potential to put mode in this car
