I don't think there will be any way to get a recall.
FIrst of all, it will take thousand upon thousands of
complaints to get a recall. The auto transmission used
in the probes and 4 cylinder Mazda 626's is a piece of
crap and has failed on literally thousands of owners
in the past years, but nothing was done to fix it,
even though class action suits have been brought
against Ford and Mazda. Since this problem is in no
way safety related, it will be even more difficult to
get a recall. The ticking is most likely the valve
lash adjusters. Try using a synthetic oil. Seems to
work on about 50% of the cars. It will be bothersome
for a while, but your engine is not near death or
anything, so I would not worry about it.
