Hi
I am a new member to this site, and could use any and all information on Escape 2007 V6 engine.
About a week ago heard a new strange noise, sounded like a type of knock in front end drivers side.
Checked al fluids which were fine, but book car in to Ford Dealer.
Dealer initial findings were could be engine bearings?????????
This Escape only has 47,000 KLMS or approx 35,000 miles.
Oil and filter has been changed at about every 7,000 klms.
The dealer tech, drew off a sample of oil to send it out to analzse, and was going to check oil pump, also mentioned he found some filings, but did not say if they were in oil pan, filter , or oil sample he took.
Questions:
1/ have there been any issues with this motor and lack of oil flow to bottom end
2/ could oil be contaminated with anit-freeze?
3/ if oil pressure was low , for what every reason, would lite not come on and stay on ? until issue fixed or lite reset?
4/ if a quick lube like Jiffy Lube/Mr.Lube put on wrong oil filter, could that starve bottom end of oil, or contribute to lack of oil pressure.?
5/ Has anyone heard of this happening before??
I checked with 2 other Ford dealers , and they have not had any issues with Escape 2007 or this engine.
Any and all replys wil be appriecated, as I have never experienced this before, and just hope Dealer is not attempting to suggest repair is not covered by warranty.
