Hi one and all! We have a 98 Explorer 4WD that we purchased pre loved. Now being in Australia we have bought a fully imported vehicle with one of those nasty problems! LACK OF AFTER MARKET SPARES!!!!!!!!! Now we need a locking fuel cap for this excelent people mover and this is what happened after trying all the major spare outlets in Sydney we have found that only Ford Aus, has a fuel cap and well you would think that you would only pay $50-70 Aus for one. No that is NOT the case FORD Aus. want $184.00Aus for the bloody thing. Now you can emagine the choice Aussie venacular that passed my and my wifes lips as the parts rep told us the price with a huge grin on his face. Can anybody in the US please inform me of a supplier of an after market fuel cap for a 98 XLT, the price and an email/webb address for them as I think it will be a lot cheaper to bring one in from overseas. If anybody can assist me this would be great as I broke the cap and it will help keep the other half off my back. Thankyou kindly Steve T. Grizzly2061

A quick check on Yahoo showed many sources. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=locking+ford+explorer+fuel+cap A google search came up with many options also. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=locking+ ford+explorer+fuel+cap The prices look like USD23 to USD30 depending on source. I just checked http://fordparts.com/catalog/?section=111 and they have a locking cap for a 2003 (I assume them also have one for a 1998) USD 25.17. I hope this helps, Scott 98 XLT 4.0L OHC
