Unfortunately, the 96 PSE is one hard car to find an aftermarket direct
replacement for. The problem is that the downstream and upstream use two
different connections, one uses a male harness end, one female. For the
Downstream on the 96, I think the Bosch 15708 is a direct replacement,
but the dealer covered and replaced that one. For the upstream O2 sensor
we ended up just buying an O2 sensor for a PGT (13275 I believe) cut the
harness off of that one, and splicing the old harness onto it. If you do
this, however, make sure the spliced are mechanically and electrically
secure (cant be pulled apart under reasonable force and have low
resistance) because if you dont, you will still get CEL after a while. I
had to go and redo two splices because I didn't do a very good job on
two of them, because after the car warmed up, it would still give a CEL
for that sensor. I ended up using crimp splices, because my soldering
skills are non-existent. :) The 13275 was about $50, The 15708 was about
$80 from CB Performance, but prices for sensors for this car vary all
over the place: $300 dealer, about $150-$180 Pep Boys (with NO harness
end), Autozone doesn't carry PSE sensors just PGT, Advance Auto $100 or
so, still no harness end. I think Roebuck Mazda has them too, but I dont
remember the price, I called them a while back, but probably cheaper
than the dealer. Good Luck!
