Okay, I committed a real doozy. I somehow lost the cap for the fuel tank for my 1993 Explorer. I noticed this morning when I went to fill up, and, yes, I've already checked at the last place where I got gasoline. So, now I am riding around with no cap. What should I do? JR

Yeah, that's what I'd do. Maybe you can upgrade to one with a lock cap.

If you cannot find one at the dealer. Try used. (wrecking lot or "parts recycler"). Also try a Schucks or Autozone, one of those kind of places. This has always been a friendly forum except for the spam. What is painfully obvious to one person may not be to someone else. Lets not try to make someone feel bad for posting a question. Me neither. When I replaced my gas cap a ways back, it was with a locking cap. Because it stayed with my keys when I gassed up, I never lost the cap again.

I don't think I have ever lost a Cap, I think on most cars built in the last ten to fifteen years the cap is actually tethered to the car, makes it kinda hard to loose. Even on my 98 explorer that has an aftermarket locking cap, it is tethered. And the key is not needed to put it back on. >
