Sorry to tell ya Zach but bypassing your MAF usually keeps an engine from running. Even if you could run the engine your PCM (computer)would not know how much air is entering the engine and would be forced to guess. Computers are bad guessers so your throttle response would be horribly slow.

Zach, On new vehilces there are two types of air flow systems, one is the MAF=Mass Air Flow, and the Speed density system. Both of these tell the puter what the load is and the puter makes adjustments in fuel delivery and spark timing accordingly. If you bypass the MAF sensor your vehicle won't run. I'm curious as to why you would want to bypass it? I'm not being critical just genuinely interested. Del

Contact Professional Flow Technologies. There site is http://www.pro-flow.com/ The guy you need to talk to is Bob. He will be building me a 75mm MAF sensor my Turbo project. In fact, the unit they will be building for me is adjustable for various sizes of injectors, from stock (21lb injectors) to well over (42 lb injectors) which is what I have on order with RC Engineering. The MAF will cost me $260. If you have him specifically program one for your factory injectors, it will run $160. If you throw in a chrome housing, the price goes up $40, I think. If you have any questions talk to Bob, is the brain there. Enjoy, Bryan Pendleton >

There is a article in the Houston Raceway Park Quarterly paper, about cleaning your MAF sensor on late-model cars. Anyway, his article said that about about a year or more the performance of his 90's thunderbird was suffering, and after replacing a couple MAF sensors he decided to tear into it to take a look for himself. I know that you absolutely do not want to touch the hotwire element, but I believe he mentioned cleaning it with a carburator cleaner or some other type of solvent and putting it back together. The results was a restoration of the car's performance, which he claimed resulted in around a full second of his ET's at the drag strip. I will try and find the article, and get some details on the procedure but that may be all you need. Enjoy, Bryan Pendleton www.probenet.com >

Stupid question. Where is the MAF sensor located? I've heard some of the problems which can be attributed to it, and may want to replace mine. Is it consistently in the same / similar location across model years? Thanks. "James Del Mul" <jamesdelmul> writes: >I got the MAF replaced and so far everything has been great. It should be bolted to the airbox (where air filter is) by 4 bolts.  It's a metal tube with an electrical connector on

It is located between the Air Filter box and the engine. On my 94 it is on the passenger side of the engine right behind the battery. It is mounted to the air filter box with a plug and some wires plugged into it. It would be a very simple thing to replace your self.
