Warn and Mile Marker say that a spindle conversion kit is needed to convert from factory auto locking hubs. However, in the description both companies refer to a three screw hub. My Truck has FIVE screws holding the outer hub cover on. Is this what they are talking about? If so , then maybe I will not need the spindle conversion kit. Has anyone here ever done the conversion where the outer auto lock hub cover has five screws ? What exactly does the spindle conversion kit do ? ? ? here is the WARN part description......... WARN PART #32720 - This is a SPINDLE NUT CONVERSION KIT. You need this Conversion Kit if you are replacing Automatic 3 screw Hubs with a set of Manual Hubs. This Kit comes with installation instructions. Thanks, Scott

Scott, I worked in the parts department in a ford dealership for close to 20 years and have been involved in the parts side of the conversion numerous times for the F-Series and Rangers/Explorers. The spindle nut kit is needed because it also is somewhat like a spacer. I ordered all the separate ford parts to make a conversion like that a few times with the first time not ordering the nut, thinking they would be the same. After the tech tried to mount on the truck, the new lockout assembly would not sit flush to the hub. We had to get the different nut. Warn and MileMarker are both good hubs. We used them most of the time. The ford parts was just too high to make a conversion. Bob Scott Perkins
