Just back from a trip to Western Canada out of Manitoba. We did 3825 km and used 412.73 litres. That comes out at 10.79 litres/km and 26.32 miles per imperial gallon (or 21.93 miles per US gal). The journey took us through the Rocky Mountains and the Selkirks to Kamloops, back across to Edmonton and home to Brandon, Manitoba. Kept at legal limit all the way when it was 100 km/hr and just under 110 km/hr when in Alberta. I don't jack-rabbit start and keep in high gear as much as possible. i.e I throw it out of overdive on a long hill and drive in top gear if possible and reasonable. This I believe will give just about the best you could get. Even with all that I can't get the sticker figures of 9.1 litres/km or 31 mpg but I am very well pleased with the vehicle that now has just under 8000 km under its belt.

Loved the drive in every way. I even like resting on the gear change to surf the radio!!

Saw just two other Escapes in all that travel. A few in dealers lots.

21.93, that's pretty close to what I get....sometimes I'll get a little better, but 22 (US) is pretty much the norm for me. Trying to duplicate the ideal situation that the computer does when the sticker mileage is computed is nearly an impossible task. Have about 8,400 miles on mine now.

Dennis

Glad to hear that you had a safe trip and that your Escape was pleasing for you.

I have never reached the advertised highway mileage either. I think you have to drive like 90 k/h to achieve it.

I like Kamloops and the drive to it. I drove through there Thanksgiving weekend and the golden colours were incredible enroute.

Nice to have you back and thanks for the report.

Gary
