I have a 1997 Ford Explorer xlt with 103,000 miles on it I am wondering what performance mods can be made to this truck and what type of potential does it have. I have a 98 Jimmy and I am familiar with people who have made 300+ hp from the gm 4.3 liter. I am not wanting a 300hp truck but would like an extra 30 to 50 hp.

There is a ford performance magazine that might help some. Opening up the exhaust a little, there are replacement heads (ported) and the magazine also has some bolt on supercharger kits, just for the explorer.   Chris Robertson
