OK. I?m happy now. :) After a whole day of waiting for two day air to get here (they made it at about 5:30PM, usually get here at 11:00AM) I got my Autotap. For those who don?t know, it is a real-time diagnostic scanner for OBDII vehicles. It feels good just to say that! I picked up a nice Toshiba T2450 to use with it ($200 used), since I didn't really want to take one of my computers in the garage, and I can scan and drive. Enough rambling, on to the good stuff. It does indeed work as advertised, and yes it fully works with the Probes. We used it on my brothers 96 PSE and our 96 F150, and it works great on both. I even cleared the DTC's the bad O2 set. Ill give a short rundown of what we can get off the PSE: Engine Speed, Vehicle Speed, Ignition Timing Advance, Total Spark Advance, Battery Voltage, Cylinder Misfire (Including which cylinder), Coolant Temp, Intake air temp, Air Charge Temp, Barometric Press, Trans Oil temp (not sure if this is working, the car was cold, might be for autos since it worked on the truck), Fuel System status (Open loop/Closed Loop, if O2 are working), Short and Long term fuel trim, MAF Air Flow Rate and voltage, TPS volt and position, HEGO volt (O2 sensor volt), Duty Cycle of fuel pump (looking into this one) Lambda Equivalent Rating, EGO1 Apt fuel Correction (Looking into these two as well), Status of all OBDII driving tests, # Trouble codes, Actual Trouble codes and Pending Trouble codes, Freeze Frame of what was happening when code was set (This one is really cool), Results of O2 sensor test. There are more in there like leanness and richness from each o2, and a couple more parameters. In addition to all of the reading, we can log what?s going on as well, plus read and clear MIL and DTC, so no more irritation Check engine light until we get another O2. So IMHO its worth the $250 I paid for it, but I think one place sells some for $239. Bulk buy for you guys maybe? Also, you don?t need a laptop to do this, if you get your car within 10 feet of a computer with a free COM port, you can use it. The laptop if just for convenience, and damn if it doesn?t look cool to see it on one. :) There are a few more that I should learn more about once we scan while driving, but please ask any questions you have if you want to know what?s in there or not. Ill be out of town today, but as soon as I get back, we will do some driving and scanning to get a good feel of what?s going on in there. Hopefully we will learn some things about this 2.0L engine, esp. with those IAT temps and MAF readings. Sorry it got long, but I just had to let you guys know it worked. Dedric Ramsey dedric@...

Dedric, Sounds exciting, I am looking for to some hard test data, for some of the more interesting parameters, like MAF voltage, TPS, O2 sensors, ignition timing, injector duty cycles. Keep us up to date. ENjoy, Bryan Pendleton >

Im excited too! :) Im customizing the pages of information I have to get all of the interesting parameters on a page so I can log them all at once. I can get all of those parameters, except maybe MAF Voltage (Which worked on the F150, Ill check the PSE now to make sure I can do it on it too) and Injector duty cycle (which Ill check on as well). Since I can tell how much air is flowing in the MAF, I should be able to get the voltage too. Ill keep you guys posted. Dedric Ramsey dedric@...

Ok. I just checked the car again. I got Maf voltage, but I dont think it formatted correctly (it showed 150.00, remember, still in beta), but how does 1.5 volts at idle sound? (thats at 700 rpm, .37 lbs/min). I cant wait to get that final release, I hate to guess at this. Just two more days to go.... Dedric Ramsey dedric@...
