My car knocks under heavy load, even using hi octane gas. The engine light stays on for 7 seconds everytime this happens, then goes out. I tried tripping the codes (ignition on/off 3 times quickly - is that correct?), and got nothing. Could this be a bad antiknock sensor? If so, what is it like to fix or buy? Thanks

The 2.0L does not have a knock sensor. At least the 93 doesnt. That might have changed, but it was my understanding that none of the 2.0L's have them. Check to make sure your timing is within factory specifications... I believe it should be 12 degrees. (at least on a 93 -- same engine as in 95.) Also, not sure how you read out the codes on a 95. I think 93-95 had the same basic PCM modules. I think the ODB-II stuff came around in 96... If I am correct about 93-95 having the same PCM's, then you need to use this procedure: 1) Turn car off 2) Pop hood 3) Open diagnostic connector near battery 4) Use a paperclip or the like to jumper the TEN (STI) pin to the GND pin. 5) Turn key to run position, but dont start the car. 6) Record the diagnostic codes from the CEL. To clear the codes, disconnect the negative battery terminal for 30 to 60 seconds. Brad

The timing for 2.0L probe is 10 degree's before TDC (top dead center). You'll need to follow the directions on the bottom of the hood; also use a flashlight so you can see the degree indicator thats on the belt, then just turn the disty.
