I' ve got a '66 and the fuel tank chooser switch is directly below the driver's seat. There are 3 positions this knob can be in- towards the driver door, straight up, or towards the passenger door. You can use either tank by itself, or both the tanks. Problem is, I don't know which knob position directs which tank. I know that when it is towards the driver door, it is using gas from the rear tank, or both the tanks. Any Help?

Thanks, stephenlassiter1

Mine is main : straight up , Aux : toward Dr. Door . It's a pain but if you pull the switch you can set it up how you want it , I did .

You'll have to disconnect the fuel lines underneath , be sure to remember their positions . Take off the lever & unscrew the plate . Been awhile but I think the shaft unscrews from the body . Take your time , study how it functions from position to position & you'll figure it out .

What you have in essence is a threeway valve. in the central position (straight up ) it should be off. If its not, you have a damaged valve.
