I have pretty much the same engine in my 1984
except it's a throttle body injection instead of an
electronic fuel injection. First thing i would do is rebuild
the engine, with that many miles it could be getting
near its end, or at least losing power because it's
worn. When you get it rebuilt I'd go with some nice
aluminum heads and parts like that to add some power while
you're at it. A supercharger would add some nice power
to your bird too. I'm looking to throw one on mine
and gain about 50 horses or so. You could put on a
dual exhaust system, I took my from a single to a dual
flowmaster system with headers and hi-flow cats and it freed
up about 30 horses. Ummmmm.....i added a dual
snorkel air cleaner to get more cold air into the engine,
and installed hood scoops from an 88 turbo coupe for
a custom ram air system which added some nice
styling and power at the same time. There's a lot of
things you can do to the Ford 302, let me know if you
have any questions.
