Hi I'm new to your group and it seems like there's a lot of good
knowledge floating around here so I was hoping to tap into it. I
bought a 1990 Tbird with the tranny out and a blown head gskt on the
motor. The price was right though and I have visions of the
beautiful car with a 5.0 HO engine and the AOD transmission. Has
anyone ever put the 5.0 in a 1990? Will it fit without too many
snags? and where's the best place to find a buildable 5.0 roller cam
engine?
I'd sure appreciate any info.
Thanks

I am in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am really looking for a 69 Ford F100
with a long bed and A/C, or a 73-95 F150 4X4 or a 76-84 Chevy 4X4.

I have a 1977 f150 long bed 2wd with a 400, headers, rv cam for
towing torque. I drive her a lot and she's not even bad looking. She
doesn't fit your specs but she is what I have. Your 93 with the 5.0
sounds like what I'm looking for... What kind of price tag are you
looking for?

I am looking for about $1500 or trade after I replace the doors and
strut bushings. If I was to sell the 93 as is, I would throw in the
95 (car is complete and in good shape - trans is bad but has full
power seats, mirrors, doors, and leather) for $1500

I believe the 93 would make it. The only thing i think would need
fixed to drive would be the thermostat and a C clip reinstalled on
the throttle linkage(clip is missing) and the door taped. The 95 is
non driveable (trans is shot). Would u want both or the 93? I have
the title for the 93, I have not recieved the 95 or title yet.

Hello! Kelly
Welcome to the group! I live in virginia and don't have a set available, but I
do have several older fords and have some info that you may or may not know.
Your f-150 will be a 5 on 5.5 meaning 5 lug spaced 5.5 inches apart. This is a
very common pattern ford used on all f-150's, fullsized bronco's, as well as
early bronco's and other half ton fullsized trucks from the 70's to present
date. Also early model jeeps till the mid 80's. Your truck proubably has 15"
rims, it can run 16" or 16.5" if you find some, but there are less tires sizes
available to choose from and they are often more exspenive!
We (me and my wife) have a 79 f-150 short bed 4x4(hers) a 79 bronco 4x4
(mine) and a 70 early bronco 4x4(ours), they are in our F-150 group photos...

Hope this helps! Dwayne

Thanks so much for giving me this info. Les Swab tried to say I couldn't get
anything but specific '76 rims...he talked about them also being the 5 - 5.5 but
would not admit I could use anything off any other ford truck or any other
model.
I love how you and your wife have truck partners =) I have my current '60 Comet
project, that once ran, but my husband would like to have his '67 Falcon
back...he had one at one time but it got pulverised by some gang members in an
alley that thought his car was someone elses they knew. Bummer.
Love Fords. Had a '62 F100 project but sold it for $100 and a used lawn mower
that broke down after the second use. Sigh, we live and learn.
I'll look forward to posting as I deal with some issues that I don't doubt this
old shaped truck will have.
Have a great week,
Kel

Your welcome! Glad to be of some asistance, if you have any questions in
the future feel free to ask. I have collected quit a few vehichles, mostly older
ford trucks. Is your 76 two wheel or four wheel drive? Any lift? Stick or auto?
just courous. All of our trucks are 4x4's , working on vehichles and
fourwheeling are preaty much my only hobbys and they kinda go hand in hand
"lol". Sorry to hear about your husbands Falcon, I also own a falcon " no
kidding" it is a 66 futura two door with a 351w. I'll send a pic when I find
one. Well I have to go help with dinner so I'll talk to you later. Dwayne

One of the reasons I felt the 4x4 list could help me is because I really need a
4x4 but this '76 Ford is rather an obligation purchase. In that, I mean that it
has been loaned to me quite a few times to help out in getting stuff to the
landfill and moving stuff that I felt obligated to go ahead and purchase it
since I use it so much. The gentleman that is letting me use it is also the
vice-president of my employer..so double wammy on obligation to make right. It
isn't manual, like I would prefer and it is only 2 wheel drive. But it's year is
my birthdate so I figured it was meant to be mine someday. Besides, $350 is all
he is asking. Looking into conversions would make a challenge but it might be
worth it so I wonder what it would take to get it into a 4x4. What has your
experiences been? Purhaps you could give me a shopping list on what I need to
keep my eyes open for as far as parts. I might need to have a whole other truck
to make into one.
Thanks a bunch for the kind hand =)
God Bless,
Kel

$350 sounds good even if its not a four wheel drive. At one point I owned a
79 F-100 two wheeldrive, it had a good body so I had considered making it a 4x4.
If I had keep it " long story, to long for my point and peck typing tonight " I
probably would have put it on a 79 F-150 4x4 frame" be cause of power steering
and disc brakes " or I would have lifted it alot with a custom fabrecated
syspenion lift. Either way would have taken alot of work and a little cash. The
truck that I had, had a twin I beam front axle that had some brackets that hung
down to hold it in place that would have to be cut off or it would need a good
bit of lift for the new 4x4 axle to clear them. Is your truck a V-8 or a staight
6? and do you have a garage? To make your truck a 4x4 you would need a 4x4 front
axle,prefeably a dana 44 from a late 70's F-150 , also the radius arms "the two
metal arms that connect the rear of the axle to the frame" and brackets and the
track bar " the metal bar that connects the passenger side of the axle to the
drivers side of the frame" with its bracket, you will also need a transfer case
and maybe a transmission to put it on. There are two types of transfer cases,
one that bolts directly to the transmission "married" and one that is seperate,
but connected by a small driveshaft "divorced". You could use a divorced T-case
but you may need to do some custome fabricating. A married T-case walnt bolt up
to your exsiting transmission. I think the easyist way for you would be to buy
a late 70's F-150 with a blown motor or a bad body for cheap, you would just
need the transmission " tranny" , the transfer case " T-case " , front
driveshaft, front axle "Dana 44" and connecting componets. There are also many
other parts that are interchangable with your truck.
I don't know how much you know about vehicles or trucks so please don't
think that I'm trying to belittle you with big words or indeaf descriptions, I
wrote this like this to help you understand what these parts are. My wifes
father and brother both knew alot about vehicles, but never took the time to
explain anything to her because she was a girl, she know very little until
shortly after meeting me and her truck broke down, after I found what the
problem was and orderd the parts to fix it one friday night we went to bed and
she asked what I had orderd and what dose it do? thats when I relalized that she
had been stereo typed. We got up and looked at several auto parts books starting
with the bare block " 8 holes= V-8, 6 holes= 6 cylender, 4 holes= 4 cylender "
and then working our way out in detail. Four hours later " 2:30 AM. " she had
had a crash course in how an automobile engine operates. She retanded alot of
the knolage and has continued to learn and work on her own vehichle as well as
her mothers and sisters and brothers, she now knows enuff to put most men to
shame. Thats a story that I love to tell " type, not so much". She makes me very
proud! I don' t like people who take joy in knowing more than others, because
of those people I take joy in teaching others all that I can! So please ask any
questions" even if their stupid ones " you want about vehicles as long as you
can put up with my typing and spelling! Well I need to go work on my 79 bronco
" rust repair " I'll talk to you later. Dwayne

Oh, your questions, just an auto, no lift, V6 but need to verify engine cubic
length. Oh man, does this thing need suspension overhaul. <sweating>

Sounds great! Finding unmolested cars is getting harder each day. I have to
confess, mine although pretty rusty at the time was a complete 70 302 AT w
A/C, now its a 427, 4 speed, 9 inch with A/C. The only excuse I have is that
the car probably would have ended up in a junkyard if I didnt rescue it. -
