Just a quick post as an introduction and a quick question. My name is Morris Rothfeldt and I'm a long time Ford owner. I currently own a 2000 F-350 7.3L XLT Lariat LE Crew Cab 4x4 Dually, a 1998 Explorer 5.0 2WD Limited Edition, a 1973 Bronco, and a 1972 Bronco. The 350 is my latest addition. It was purchased last week as a tow rig for my Bronco addiction. I am the editor of Bronco Driver magazine and am known to be pretty good with a wrench. However, being new to the Diesel world, I feel a little lost. My first question is about a troublesome leak I discovered this AM. I know you're expecting a question about some type of driveline fluid leak, but this is not the case. When I climbed behind the wheel this morning I was greeted by a substantial quantity of water emanating from the overhead trip computer. I suspect that the source is under the factory windshield visor, but haven't had a chance to fully investigate yet. My question is this; is this a common problem with the LE's or am I in uncharted territory? If this is common, what is the best fix, RTV, new gaskets? TIA, Morris Rothfeldt Editor, Bronco Driver Magazine www.BroncoDriver.com

I bet you didn't get it from the dealership? Check your warranty, you may just still have one. My 1999 F-350 Crew cab super duty gas truck had a 4 year warranty (witch ran out a month ago, got it last month of 1998 really) I don't now much about warranties but see if you still got one? I might be all wrong too. Also, does yours have a temperature reading in you overhead computer? If so your seal for that maybe bad. Or if you have a 5 lights on top your truck that could be it too, that happened to my truck, one light's seal cracked and started leaking, gave me a bath every time it rained.   Blue Anodized Steel

I just got the visor off.  Judging by the wear and tear on the screws, this isn't the first time it's been off.  I don't see anything suspect, so I'm going to clean it all up and re-seal all potential leaks with genereous amounts of clear RTV.  Hopefully this will be the cure.   Morris

That is what i was going to suggest.  I had my 1989 f350 repainted and after i got it back it was leaking also.  we guessed that it was the cab lites.  we were going to get new gaskets for the lites as most of them had moisture in them.  never got around to it before i upgraded to a new 2003 6.0 diesel this year. .... now my problems are under the hood.  oh well... thats what warrentees are for, huh?
