Well, for a while anyway. Up to 61,200 miles now. Whewwwwww!! Got to stop this. But per usual, the Escape performed flawlessly. Yeah, it stuck into passing gear a few times pulling the Camper up steep grades, but that's nothing new. With the camper tagging along behind me mileage was around 17 or 18 mpg. Gary: Just some food for thought, I know they say that 89 or 93 octane has no benefit. But I did fill up with 93 octane Amoco a couple or three times, and I may have been holucinating, but I would swear it helped going up mountains while towing. Dennis

Glad to hear that you got back home safely. I have always just put regular in, so I haven't tested any other types of gas. It would be interesting if a higher octane gas helped with the performance. Gas prices look like they are going to up quite a bit, especially as fears with a war with Iraq become greater. My Escape has been running really well too. I really made the right choice. In a couple of weeks I will make another quick drive to Vancouver on the BC coast for my sister's 40th birthday party. That should add another 3000 kms. It's getting a little cooler here and some of the leaves are starting to turn yellow. It won't be too long before we some of the white stuff. We are a good month from real winter (or longer I hope) but we are sure into fall. In a couple more months I will be putting on the Alpins, then I can start thinking about new wheels when I put the Cross Terrains on in the spring. I guess I am getting a little ahead of myself.
