I just rebuilt my 83 Bronco's 302 v-8. I had re-ground the
crank, bored it out .030,changed all the replacable engine parts.
Anyway, now the oil pressure when cold is 60 psi at an Idle, but
after it,s warmed up , its down to 20 PSI, which bothers me. Isnt it
supposed to be 40 PSI at an Idle, when warmed-up? Before the rebuild it
didnt have a oil pressure gauge that reads accuratly, like the
aftermarket Oil pressure gauge I just put in it.The factory oil
pressure gauge, that its always had,in the dash, just displays the
normal operating range, and below normal, and above normal. No PSI
numbers are on that gauge. All the time Ive driven the rig before the
rebuild,I assumed the oil pressure was 40PSI at an Idle, when that
gauge was showing and still shows a normal reading.I double checked
the pressure with an extra gauge, it reads 20 PSI @ idle also. Is this
typical of 302 small block fords? Im running 10w40 oil, ( 6 qts,+ new
filter of course). It always has between 60 to 80 PSI when cruising,No
Leaks, so its just the Idle Im concerned about.Do you think this is
normal??
