In my '93, I used Valvoline Synthetic. I didn't
change to synthetic until 85,000. I do know that I was
told from Ford that once you go synthetic, stay
synthetic. In a previous reply I said I had my '93 for up to
170,000+ miles, when I traded it in I the engine was still
running strong. I never had a single engine problem out
of it.

One funny thing I did, something I
would never usually do, this was before I changed to
synthetic. I ordered a product called MotorUp from an
infomercial, they really had me hooked. I do know that if I
hadn't at the time ordered did, I would have been in a
lot of trouble. On one particular day I had my oil
changed at a Jiffy Lube, the guy didn't put my oil drain
bolt back on snug it unscrewed it self on my way home.
I lost all of the oil on the way home and didn't
even know it until the next day when I started my car
and I had no oil pressure. I personally think that
synthetic additive I added (MotorUp) saved my engine. It
never screamed on the way home, not once, nor did I
hear any valve noises. I wouldn't recommend buying
this product though, I just think its story to be told
though. I believe that you can buy MotorUp at your local
auto part store now though.

Unfortunately it
was the ?93 make that had major transmission
problems, and I had it rebuilt 2 times, then I felt it was
time to retire her. $1,500 a pop.
