after being blown away by a prelude si, (i swear he had at least a turbo with vtec timers!) i need to operate on my baby. you guys know the deal, the same 95 4.6 i'm always talking about. i need to know EXACTLY what i will need from the throttle body to the air filter, to perform this high flow intake operation. to help at least, i will tell you some of the parts that i know i need to get started. you guys fill in the rest.

1)A throttle body that fits the stock 95 4.6 set up. maybe 65mm or something. what else will i need with the part?

2) Some type of hose or cold intake system that will fit the throttle body you suggest AND will fit under a stock hood set-up. i know that some companys make systems from the throttle body down for mustangs, and i wonder if those will fit under the hood. what else will i need for this part?

3) if the intake tube or system comes with a MAF, skip this question. if not, i guess i will go with the 80mm lightning MAF. hopefully, it will fit this intake system. i already know that i will have to purchase a chip. i will call customchip the day i get my parts and have them program the correct transfer function for whatever MAF i have. what else will i need for this part.

4) any other suggestions or comments? i will also ditch the k&n panel filter and go with the 7" conical, or whatever high-flow filter fits this new set-up best.

any help is appreciated, thanks a million guys!

kirk
95 4.6 V8 lx T-Bird

i've been reading up a lot lately on intakes since the more air helps my supercharger out. but you don't have one, so maybe this won't help you out as much.
i would go with a larger throttle body than just 65mm, especially if you plan on changing the intake tube itself. a 3in. tube is good but i've been planning on putting on a 3.5 in aluminum tube in there. w/ that an 85 mm throttle body and a 9 in. K&N cone. (along w/ the maf sensor and chip). as far as i've been told, the 3-3.5 in. intake tube would fit under the stock hood and so would the huge throttle body and cone.

whenever i look to upgrade my car, i'm looking for the best air flow so i would go with larger throttle bodies. but its still your decision. how bad do you really wanna kick this prelude's ass?

David

For your throttle body, get a 70mm-75mm. For your intake tube, go over to tccoa.com and ask about RichardM's intake tubes for the '94-'95. I don't know if he is currently selling them, but from what I've heard they're a great replacement for that crappy flat plastic thing ford called an intake tube. You will have to talk to Richard about what will fit on the tube, but you should be able to make adapters for anything that won't fit. Also, check out the intake section on the "articles" page. There's instructions for how to build a ram-air setup there. Other than the tube, maf, and conical filter, the other stuff isn't going to get you much of a gain because the intake manifold itself will negate much of the improved airflow. Hope this helps,

Kenny

Here's a link to the website for the intake tubes. Just scroll down to the intake section.

http://home.flash.net/~rfm2/

Kenny

i'll take whatever advise i can get! i'm setting up my engine for an efi nos system. ( i cannot afford a blower) so i need a high flow intake, coupled with a high flow exhaust to get maximum benifit. so i want to start buying parts today. so what do you suggest? and most importantly, where do i GET THE PARTS?!?!?! (everyone's always so helpful, but never really give me a stock # or place to buy the part) i have a lot of work to do to get this ready for some real street action. apr 20 nira comp here in slc.
