I was just wondering if I could get a good concrete solution to our braking system problems. I know EBC green's are the way to go, but will the dealership be mad, will it go against some warrenty agreement, will those pads solve the problems we all seem to be having with our brakes? Also, I used to get this horrible build up on my rims from there brake pads, but now it seems to be like an oil type of substance that is getting all over my rims. I washed them and it just came back. Is that something that can be solved with good pads? And does anybody know why it would all the sudden go to an oily type of look on my rims? Thanks for all of your time!!! Heather (Midnight blue 2001 ZX3, 13k, manual transmission, spoiler bought and will be on soon, moon roof, otherwise stock everything except for deck for now!) :D:D:D

Heather, Your Dealer should'nt have any problem with the EBC brake pads. Most all brake pads will leave a residue or dusting of the rims. If its a fluid or oily substance than you may have a leaking caliper or brake hose. No brake pads I know of have ever left a oily substance on the rims. My current and previous ZX3 has never had brake noise from the fronts, only the back. In the morning they sqeak after the first or second brake apply then get quiet for the remainder of the day. Its a common Focus prob and I'm sure it has something to do with the material in the brake shoes or the drums themselves. I've never had a loss of brakes, just noisey in the morning. Good luck. Del- Hey thanks for the advice! I was kind of assuming I had a leak of some form that is producing the oily-ness. I just didn't know if I could be something bad in the brake lines. I have never had any major noise problems with my brakes on my zx3. The only prob I have had is the massive build up of brake dust from the stock pads they use. I am not that great with cars, so I really appreciate your response to my beginner questions. I will get the hang of it eventually and slowly but surely my zx3 will get some mods and be where I want it to be. Any advice you would like to give me on good body kits, gauges, lights, etc., please feel free to let me know...thanks again!!! Heather

HEATHER, DOES THE FOCUS HAVE REAR DRUM BREAKS? IF SO. IT IS A WHEEL CYLINDER LEAK AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE DEALER ASAP.... IT IS UNDERWARRANTY ALSO.. IF THE WHEEL CYLINDER TOTALLY BLOWS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP BECAUSE ALL THE BREAK FLUID WILL BE DRAINED FROM YOUR BREAKS. RY
