Ok...I have a 97 base and as many of you know, these are virtually optionless. I recently installed some aftermarket foglights and I am not happy with the power switch. I only have 1 working button on the button cluster below the a/c controls. The non-buttons are all equipped with dummy plugs that actually have wires running to them. Is it possible to find the foglight switch from another probe and rewire my existing power switch wires into it? If so, does anyone know exactly how this is done? My switch has two wires...One to the power relay and one to the low-beam wire on the headlights, thus allowing the foglights to only work while the low-beams are on. Any help or wiring specs would be helpful. YES YOU CAN. I DID IT. I WENT AND GOT ALL REAL SWITCHES FOR THE CONSOLE FROM A JUNKYARD. COST ME $20 FOR ALL. THE ONLY ONES I HAD WERE DEFROST AND HEADLIGHT UP AND DOWN(ONLY ON 93). YOU ALSO MUST GET THE RELAY FUSE FROM THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX. (STOLE IT FROM JUNKYARD). THE WIRING IS ZIPTIED TO THE FRONT OF THE RADIATOR. I BOUGHT A SET OF FACTORY FOGS AND BRACKETS AND MODIFIED THEM TO WORK WITH A BRIGHTER BULB. I'VE HAD MINE SINCE FEB. AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I ALSO HAVE THE FOG LIGHT MOD THAT ALLOWS THE FOGS TO BE ON WITH PARKING LIGHTS. YOU CAN JUST CUT THE CONNECTER ON THE FACTORY WIRING AND HOOK YOUR AFTERMARKET FOGS RIGHT UP TO THE WIRES. HOPE THIS HELPS. SORRY FOR THE BOOK. CHRIS

But is it possible to wire my foglight wires into the stock probe switch without using the factory wiring or relay? Wilson 97 base

Yes it is possible That's the way I have my driving lights wired up right now.. Depending on the wattage of the foglights you want to use, it might require you installing your own relay and fused power wire in order to properly install them. What kind of fogs are you putting in and how many watts does it use? -Lino Sacman, SCPOC '93 Rio-Red PSE, 5-spd

Again it depends on the wattage of the fogs he is gonna be running. If you get just any switch and it's not adequate enough to handle the wattage of the fogs you'll just fry the switch (as in burn it out). BTW you're terrible Nick! Remind me never to let you into my junkyard if I ever decide to open one up. =P -Lino Sacman, SCPOC '93 Rio-Red PSE, 5-spd

I bought some fog lights and did the same thing. But I could not find a fog light switch at the junk yard. So I went to Ford and they wanted $120 for the switch. What the hell is that all about?! So I just took my wires inside the cluster and wired so the fog lights are in the park position, but it is also on in the high-beam position. The relay cost me $2.50 from ford. But would still like to have the factory switch but don't know anywhere else to look. Matt Knudsen 93 Base

I have some fogs called 3ARacing. They are 55 watt. They have their own relay and in-line fuse. In fact, theyre already installed. My concern was wheather or not I could use the stock Probe GT foglight button that is missing from my base model in lieu of the crummy looking switch that came with these aftermarket fogs. I suppose its time to hit the salvage yards because I doubt I'll payt $250 for a foglight switch. Wilson 97 base some of this, some of that... still no factory foglight switch

i wouldn't recomment this. the factory wirng is there and lots of probers use the factory wires to run their aftermarket fogs. go buy a switch, or steal one an dget the relay and your in business. you can also do the foglight mod if you use factory wiring and switches. plus, it'll look better. chris
