Hi Jim, Have some familiarity with this and wanted to react, but I can't determine from your message if it is the switch that is MECHANICALLY defective (per your observation), or if it's mechanically functioning properly but just cannot ELECTRICALLY signal the Transmission Control Module to engage OD. Have you tested for fault codes, or the switch perhaps? I believe the OD switch simply sends a "short" or "open" signal to the TCM which in turn energizes a solenoid in the valve body to place the transmission in OD. Replacing the OD switch should be fairly easy but anything more than that should prove to be an interesting DIY weekend. Kit

I don't know whether the switch is MECHANICALLY defective (how would I test it), or not, or if it is the other problem. It is in over drive, the switch, when pushed, would take it out of over drive and a light on the dash board would so indicate. Is there a connector at the trany that this switch goes to, or does it go through the computer? Jimmy A. Jim, The OD switch is used to "instruct" the control module to move the transmssion in/out of OD, and the dash indicator is there merely to make the driver aware. If you're handy enough, there should be a connecter inside the steering column (I just hope the wires from the OD switch are NOT bundled together with everything else in one large connector), so you can disconnect it and/or test it separately. Sorry, I don't know if that switch is a separate part or integral to the shifter stalk. Kit
