It sounds like a water pump may be possible. The impellers may be corroded and not effectively moving water in your system, especially at slow speeds. Are you running any antifreeze other than standard Prestone or Peak? If you've been running anything that says DexCool on the jug or says anything about OAT inhibiters on the small print, drain that stuff and replace it now. That stuff eats the impellers right off your water pump. GM's had a bunch of lawsuits over that garbage. The PO of my Aerostar ran that stuff, and it did exactly that. - AC

It dosn't do much for water jackets either from what I hear from other people.
