Hi, I have a 1998 Crown Vic and put about 3,000 miles on the car a month. I am at 97,000 miles right now and for the past 2 months I have been having problems with the engine fan and overheating. The engine fan was replaced and after having it replaced once, it overheated again. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced it. It was fine for about 2 weeks. So far it has been in the shop for the past 4 weekends. Yesterday I took it in due to overheating again and some lines that lead to the engine were clogged. Immediately after I left the repair shop the car was back to overheating so I drove it right back. This time I told my mechanic it was likely the thermostat or the radiator. He looked at the thermostat and replaced it. I just got home from my mechanic with the car and ran some erands and on my way home was overheating again and nearly had a complete loss of power (25mph up a 55mph street). Have any of you had similar problems? Thanks, MJ

Well, did you install any after market stuff? Also ( and I really hope not ) your inner water ports in the engine may be clogged from bad coolant or some rust, its a rare thing but it happens. Also gas type ( 83% (regular) 87% (middle (I forgot the word for it really) 93% (premium) , coolant type ( as in 50/50 mixture or 30/70 mixture ( water/antifreez ), and radiator type ( 2, 3, 4, core ( number of passes the coolant makes through the radiator to cool off ( the more the passes the cooler it gets ). Also theres tones of thing that may be wrong too like sensor or to much fuel to air mixture ( one way to tell if thats the prob is if the exhaust it black, if its white then your engine needs to be redone but some white is okay but if it makes a cloud then its bad and its burning oil witch will cause extreme heat ). Also since its a 98 then you can put a checker in it too, I believe its called a "scan tron" or it may be different in your location. Honestly with out being there and seeing what the motor sounds like or how hot the engine feels I cant help much. The only similar prob I had like this is in my 85 LTD CV, the water pump was shot, that may be your prob too. I'm right now working on my 84 F-250 truck cause the engine is overheating too, but I know why, its cause a next-door neighbor was trying to shot a raccoon and put a bullet strait thro the radiator! Also have a hole in the fan too! But nothing else is holed ( thank goodness). Show this email to your mechanic, they should understand what I just typed cause mechanics have there own little language :) LOL Blue Steel
