3 yrs ago I got a Maaco job on my 1985 Nissan King Cab 4X4. It was originally
Mint White, but over the years of playing in the lovely Texas clay and mud,
it had actually STAINED the white paint with an orange hue. I got the
"Ambassador's Special", like $250 with the clear coat. And the truck actually
looked pretty good after the paint job.
BUT. . . .
I recommend that if you do use Maaco follow these rules:
1) Always stay the same color. Don't trust them to go from your red car to a
blue car, or whatever.
2) WASH IT FIRST! ! ! ! They actually painted over some mud on the lower 1/4
panel of my truck.
3) Remover everything you can as far as trim, headlights, tail lights,
accessories, and I recommend that you mask off the rubber window moldings and
any trim as well. They may give you a lower price if you do this as well.
That way, all they have to do is shoot it.
I believe that this will give you the best outcome.
HTH,
Travis
<< Has anyone ever taken up and tried Maaco for their $149 winter special
paint
job? Or does anyone know anyone who has had it IM sure it is probably one
coat of paint, but it could make the car shine more. And BTW, it is not me,
it is for a friend. (my probe deserves better).
