Hi, we own a 1998 Ford Explorer. We have a problem with the power windows now, they worked fine one day, now they dont. We have checked the fuses and they are all fine. Has anyone had this type of problem before? If so, please let me know the fix you did. Thanks, Bill

I have a 92 Explorer, and am having a problem with all the windows. It seems like they get "jammed" in the down position periodically. When it happens, I have to take off the door panel, loosen the screws that hold in the window motor, then retighten them. The window works after that. I haven't figured out what the problem is yet. That has to get frustraing. This is both windows? The only thing that is similar to all is the power to the windows. Try doing both at the same time and see if it really lags. It sounds as though you have a bad connection more then anything. The next issue would be the channel molding, but I don't see all the windows doing the same thing. More likely it will be the power to the switches. You might try jumpering the hot wire directly to one of the motors while you have it off. (only if you are comfortable with this. This will require a good size wire (maybe about a 12 AWG) With a razor blade punch through the wire jackes and insert your jumper wire.

Yes. There are fuses and then fuseable links. Get the Chiltons or hayes manuals, and a simple 12 V light/tester with a sharp tip. Take off the door panel (driver side) then poke the main wire and see if you have any power, First though find the fuse and actually poke it with the tester and see if it has any power. Many have a fuseable link under the hood. After you find out what, find out why. I always strongly recomend people to only roll up one window at a time.   Chris
