I have a 1994 Bronco XLT. I've put 105K miles on it, and recently had the rotors and brake pads replaced. Shortly after I noticed the ABS light was on. I verified that the system was not working - by skidding on wet pavement. The dealer diagnosed a problem with the "hydraulic controller". It would cost over $1K to replace. The dealer service guy said it was not likely the controller was damaged during the brake job (done at a brake place, not the dealer). Anybody have any experience with ABS problems or know of any bulletins?

Well if they just did you're front brakes, nothing should've went wrong, since ABS equipped-Broncos only have ABS in the rear. Have you tried disconnecting you battery for a few minutes, and then reconnecting it? I'd also maybe crawl underneath and make sure the sensor cable is firmly connected at the differential housing.

I have a 95 bronco xlt, i had a problem with mine after i had the rear air locker installed.

it seems the company who installed it didn't use the correct spacers when re-installing the tone wheel, and it came loose,-- after about 4 months.

so if you have had any recent work in your rear diff, have it checked.

also it's possible that the company you went with may have dammaged the sensor that reads the rotor marks, or simply installed the wrong rotors.

the dealer here said that he has seen very few abs controll units go bad, and most problems are related to shabby workmanship.

hope that helps

johnny4x4
