Hi, I own an Mx-6 with a v6 and just joined. But I might be able to help. I believe the tranny is a mazda thru and thru. I remember hearing that the probe has a mazda engine and drive train but call the dealership to double check. It does sound like a slipping tranny could just be a band ajustment. The clunking thing while turning is most likely your front struts. I've had that problem in other cars. If you have high mileage on the probe have them checked. Hope any of this helps. Steve

Have you checked your transmission fluid level? If its too low or too high it can affect the way your car shifts. Could also be that the throttle valve on the transmission needs adjusting, this happened on my transmission and it wouldn't shift until redline in every gear until I had it readjusted. Well it looks like my 1400 $CDN extended warranty is paying for itself... i brought my car into a mazda dealership here in vancouver... it looks like the tranny is being replaced and i wont have a car for the next 4 days..GE capital is replacing the entire autotranny... but they are sourcing it from somewhere out of vancouver and it has to be shipped in... hopefully by monday then i get my car back earliest on wednesday next week.. now i also have to see if i could get that oil pump replaced.. all this work being done for only 100 bucks... no doubt if i buy another used car it would have an extended warranty on it..
