i am currently shopping for an SUV and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts they could share.. i am looking at an 87 Ford Bronco XLT 4wd as the top option.. does anyone here recommend this? i understand this is a Bronco group and therefore might be biased.. but are there any known issues i should be aware of before purchasing..? problems? concerns? its a V8, silver/gray.. 4WD.. alloy wheels.. the body is in great shape.. no rust or dents.. and it has only 73,303 miles on it.. any help and/or information would be greatly appreciated.. thanks.. jt

Hi, I own a 87 xlt and love it!! I have had it now for years and have done alot of work mechincally on it....now the body is getting alittle tired..lolol..it is starting to rust around fender wells. I live in new jersey...and this past winter was hard...we had major snow storms...and I was the one that had to drive around in the blizzard to get employees at work. Because my truck was the only one that could make threw 3 foot snow drifts...lolol..(it was a blast). The truck you are looking at sounds great....good luck! dawn

If the vehicle was originally bought for recreation and not as a primary vehicle it is very possible that 73,000 is the actual mileage. What your plans for the truck are is going to be the primary factors determining your decision. If the truck is stock and you are planning on a suspension lift, theTTB front suspension makes it a little more difficult to do. There are bolt on kits out there to do this but an older Bronco with a solid front axle is easier. If the truck was truly well maintained and there is no rust on it you have a pretty good find. It is hard to find a Bronco that does not have rust, especially on the tailgate (Bronco's are notorious for tailgate rust). I use my '89 as a daily driver and am very happy with it. I just wish it had overdrive so it wasn't quite so thirsty for gas. Gene
