The Intrax springs are much shorter than the original springs and can be removed and installed by hand but it's a two person job (1 compressing and the other aligning & tightening) but it's a bit of a PITA. I know because we did that the first time I put my Intrax springs on. We also used a set of large Channelock grips to help compress the springs slightly to aid in aligning & seating. The 2nd time I worked on the springs alone the spring compressor definitely helped. -Lino Sacman, SCPOC Hybrid '93/'95 Rio-Red PSE, 5-spd

One other thing, I'm fairly dissapointed with my Intrax springs. They dropped the front end decent, but the rear did nothing at all. I've heard the same thing from other people. Anyone else agree with me? Has anyone cut their Intrax?

i totally agree with you. that's why i asked about the spring compressor. i plan to remove the intrax springs in the rear and cut off a coil or two and then put them back on. then hopefully the drop in the rear will be the same as the front or maybe even slightly lower. i don't plan to mess with the front at all cuz i have an RS Akimoto cold air intake which sits pretty low and the weather is pretty bad around here. i guess i will borrow a spring compressor in case i might need it. better to be safe than sorry! i'm just trying to decide if i should just cut the damn coils off now or wait until springtime (can't wait that long!!) thanks for the responses to this question by the way

I cut 2 coils all around on my intrax springs, very good decent drop... I measured the ride height from the floor to the chasis, 3 and a half inch ride height, so that makes it about a 7 to 8 inch drop. It bounces a lil, but smooth bouncing Alex 94 PSE Get FREE Email/Voicemail with 15MB at Lycos Communications at http://comm.lycos.com

I actually like my Intrax springs...the way they make the car look but more important the way they make the car handle. I saw a noticeable enough drop in the rear after I installed my Intrax. The gap between the top of the wheel and the wheel well decreased by around 1 1/4-inch...this was actually enough of a drop for my tastes. Besides I'm one of those people who like to drive faster than 5 mph over speed bumps and railroad tracks even though I have a lowered car. -Lino Sacman, SCPOC Hybrid '93/'95 Rio-Red PSE, 5-spd
