OK, hopefully this isn't too dumb of a question. I have never had this happen before and want to know what I probably need to get fixed: when I take my hands off the wheel of my Focus, the steering wheel and tires go a little to the left. Is this an alignment thing? I've never been in an accident or anything and don't know why this would be happening.

It sounds like it could be the tracking and I would suggest that you get that checked first. If it is the tracking it will be easily (and fairly cheaply) fixed by your mechanic.

Yep, sounds like the tracking. You only have to bump a ckerb slightly at the wrong angle to slightly knock it out of alignment. It's easy and cheap to remedy though, and any tyre place will do it.

Do get it looked at though. Firstly it could be dangerous if you have to break sharply. Secondly your tyres will wear unevenly.

Thanks - I'm going to take it in tomorrow to get looked at and will let you all know what they say! I just hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Getting the tracking shouldn't cost much, and some tyre places will do it for free. Just be warned that they'll probably tell you that you need to replace your tyres whilst they're at it!

Alignment it was indeed - thanks all! I had to have 2 tires replaced because they wore unevenly as well.

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. I have had alignment problems before. Another thing that could make this happen is if the tires has not been balanced.
