Welcome Men and woman alike I should be getting my under drive pulley in the mail tomorrow and I picked up the new head gasket today and got my head back from my freind it is ready to rock and roll I checked it with a flat edge and she's as smooth as a baby's butt. Any way I haven't got any tips on were to find some performance cams for the probe I was thinking about having it boared out but I don't know the specs for that and I can't find them in my book. If anyone can help me I need to find some high performance valve springs and some new valves the seats on it are pretty worn out, does any body have recomendations on pistons or should I just keep the stock ones? I have the block out of the car and I was thinking of tearing it completly down and decking it out if there is anything anyone can think of please let me know please I don't want to put the block back in and have forgot something I have a little time and I set aside some money for this kind of thing so I'm looking to make the engine perform rather well boost the hp and torque so just let me know what I can do. thanks Blake >

Performance cams- J-Spec camshaft (only available) Performance cam gears - tripoint engineering (have to call them directly) Pistons- Mazdaspeed or J-spec (raised compression) since you have the head out (im assuming you do) you might as well get that baby P&P. You should send your ecu to superchip to have them program the computer for all your engine mods, it will make a big difference.

Hey guys I went to corksport.com and I saw an engine for 1900.00 it comes stock with 170 hp would this be the better way to go if I wanted to have some quick performance or should I just go ahead and rebuild my old one which has a hell of a lot of miles on it ? I don't think this is a bad price for that kind of engine or is it I don't know how much it would cost to rebuild the entire engine would it be less to get some high compression pistons and a new cam shaft with the high performance ingnition? help Blake >

This was the FS-ZE right? It doesn't work in our cars with our ecu and wire harnesses because of system they call VICS (im pretty sure those are the right letters). It has a duel stage IM which means there are butterfly valves in half of the intake channels which are closed under a certain RPM for added torque and horsepower in lower RPM, and open at higher RPM for added torque and horsepower. Supposively there as only been two people to get the engine to work but you don't hear from the much. Just build your engine up, just make sure it'll still be an easy daily driver.

Are the j-spec pistons a good upgrade?? ive never heard about anyone doing it before. also, when upgrading the ecu, which is better, superchip or the E.L. Proto upgrade on corksport? thanks

That is not entirely true.  The intake manifold off of the jdm-spec motor does have the butterflys in the intake runners, true.  however, i was told on probetalk.com that this is a bolt on piece as well as the camshaft out of the same motor, and that there were no further complications.  you may want to become a member of probetalk and add that topic to the performance, 2.0L section.  Right now they are not at 100% efficiency, but they do have temporary forums and such.  There is alot of bad information on the page that comes with all the good information.  You sort of have to pick through all the b.s. and decide for yourself which is true...or you can come back to here if you have questions as well.  make sure to read all of the previously posts as if you place another post with the same questions they tend to become a little heated.  Personally, I only went there to ask questions reguarding what all I needed to turbocharge the 2.0L, however, I never looked at the other stuff.  I saw alot of CRAP information and it was disgusting.  However, you may find your specific info there.  Get the literature and let me know whqat you find, I'll try to verify wether its good info or not.
Thanks alot.
Jeremy

theres no problem with the intake camshaft, the exhaust camshaft is the same so no sense in swapping. The engine will not work unless you do electrical work after putting it in; ecu and wire harness like i said. I do get my info from probetalk and if you ask if it works people will tell you no or you have to do extra crap to get them working, not just a clean swap like the KL-ZE for the GT's.
