I have a 93 3.8 with a blown head gasket. The engine has 116,XXX miles on it. I am thinking about a swap (302) versus a rebuild I have called a few palces a round here and the price for a rebuild is 1600 to 1800 a swap will run 4500 to 5000 that would be the engine included. I live in Indiana and wnated to know if any one knows of a place that they trust. I have a shop that I go to but wanted to know if any one has some place that they go to that does good work.

if you have 4500 to 5500 to spend you can buy a 94-5 lx with a 4.6L v8 used maybe even a 96 sport or you can get a 93 302 for less and have money for mods you head gasket swap should only be around $800 and the 3.8 will be good for at least another 20-30k as long as there are no other major problems. don't bother with the swap unless you are doing it yourself. sell your car for like $1000-$1500 on tccoa or watever swap the gaskets and sell it for $2500 take your other money and buy a newer car. just my opinion later dwayne

Where in Indiana do you live? Are you close to Ohio off I 74. I know a very good engine man on State Line Rd. just in Indiana by Harrison, Ohio. $4500-5000 is way to much for a 302 with installation. Jack

you can call them and ask. I don't know for certain but I agree with the previous posting about rebuilding the 3.8 then selling it. If you wish to keep it, I now he can build you a strong 3.8 alot cheaper then swaping to a 302. If you are set on a swap have you thought about using a 95-97 Linc. Mark VIII engine (4 cam 32 valve 4.6)? Anyway the shop is Bishoff Engine in (I believe in) West Harrison, Indiana. If you call information and they can't find it, try Harrison, Ohio. He is right on the line of Ohio and Indiana. Let me know if you can't find the number. Good luck Jack P.S. if you do sell yours I have a 97 30th anniv merc. cougar for sale (sport suspenshion, sport brake package, 4.6 V8, a/c, leather int. and burg. in color with the rear spoiler and moon roof.
