I am having some over-heating problems. My 97 has already destroyed one head and is trying to destroy the new one. I was talking to one of the machinists at a shop I frequent and he says they get warped heads in all the time. Is there some kind of problem with 2.0 that comes up to cause this. I know I sure can't figure it out. Everything seems to be working fine excepet for a slight leak at the water pump. I took the thermostat out and have fresh coolant. Any thoughts before I tow it to the auction? I don't recall seeing any e mail come through about this recently. Thanks M.H.

I'm sorry to hear that my brother had problems with his car over heating like that but he only bought his for 250.00$ so he expected to throw some money into it he spent over 2500.00 on his car to get it to run like new but your probably not going to spend that much I really have no idea's but good luck I hope you don't have to sell it Luke >

Have you inspected the operation of thermostat? Most problems I have ever had with heating/overheating problems have been resolved with a high performance or heavy duty thermostat, depending on the vehicle. While this is not a cure all, it may be a place to start. I'd also spend the $50 to have a complete diagnostic run on the system - it saves a lot of future "guesswork" labor costs or the replacement of expensive parts such as the heads, etc. Also, if you do have a diagnostic run - avoid Ford gargaes like the plague if you can. I have never had anything but misdiagnosed or un-needed repair costs from them - and I've dealt with three here in Pa. on four different Ford vehicles (three Probes and an Explorer). This is not to say that all Ford gargaes are incompetant but buyer beware and do your homework. I've had the best results from independant garages, who during at least two episodes, found items that required repair that Ford had missed in state inspections. The independent labor expenses are also much less. The last trip to the Ford garage for the Explorer inspection / repairs resulted in an estimate of almost $2,000. The independant garage charged me less than half of that for the same repairs and then some.... Good Luck! Chris > >

have you flushed the coolant system lately? maybe you have somthing lodged in one of the passages somewhere...maybe the radiator's bad, have you mixed your antifreeze 50/50 with water? believe it or not, it gbets a lower freeze point and a higher boiling point when u mix it 50/50 like that.  just a few ideas, hope somthin works out.  peace

If its leaking at the water pump, thats the first place I would look. Maybe it isn't pumping coolant the way it sould. if you checked everything else then that is the next logical area to check. Bill 95 SPE > > >
