I have just recently gotten into restoring a 1974 Bronco with LOTS of rust. Rear Q panels need replacing. I need to find the best way to remove the old (spot welded on) and replace with new (weld, rivet, bolt?). I'm really green now, but I'll learn!

well to remove a spot weld there is a tool called a spot weld cutter. you would drill a pilot hole or center punch a small dimple to guide the center of the cutter, then a small "holesaw" will cut around the outside of the weld. you would cut all the welds out, and when the panel is off, you can grind down the remaining material.
if you are truely "gren" as you say, you might want to consider having a bodyshop or someone with this type of expierence handle the panel replacements. you can make a mess out of a project gone bad real quick.
another thing you might think about, would be to go to a community college and take a body repair course. they will have the tools, machines and can show you how to do this yourself. even if you have no intrest in being a body man, it will give you experience that will come in handy owning your bronco for years to come. you will more than likely be a ble to work on your truck there in class as you learn.
rust repair is alot of work, and to be done right, needs to be done by someone with some experience.
my 2 cents there good luck & have fun!
nicks trix
