I've read in the FAQ that it is strongly reccomended to remove the resonator. I haven't yet, and I wondered who out there has had any real performance gsin or fuel mileage effect by removing it?

You don't have to "cut" if off - take the airbox cover and filter off and you can snap the resonator off. I've had mine off since new and no engine light comes on.

I installed a Borla Cat-back exhaust, Which removed the Resonator and have had no problem with it. If you remove the Cat itself you will change the back presure and cause problem, If you do not change the computer setting with a chip.

well we could always just get some clear tail lights, and put RED ford emblems on our cars! OH and big red R's!!! yeah! focus type R just like honda!.

your exhaust doesn't need to be louder. Loud=rice rocket. the sound in no way has any relation to power. if you want your car to look powerful, make it powerful. work on the engine, don't bother with the resonator.
have you ever sat at a stop light with a viper or a vette? you know what it sounds like? it sounds like a nice car, not a bumble bee.

making the world safe for cars
evan

Actually the EXHAUST resonator is toward the back the the car by the rear bumper you can see it by looking at the back. If you cut it off the check engine light wont come on. Its not really loud but it has a nice low tone to it. That was the first thing i had done to my Zx3 when i got it in 2000. You can feel the difference pretty good too. Its not too loud in the car either unless you have the rear seats down.
