Sometimes a bad EGR valve can mess with the idle.

The IAC can and most likely will cause your rough idle problem. If it's a bad EGR, your car will be sluggish all the way through the power band. Do you have a CEL? If so, have the code read. HTH, Steve

My car is idling identical to yours. Adjusting you idle might be a fix. My car has low fuel pressure however which the dealer said was the cause of it behaving that way among other problems. Carolyn 96 SE

i can answer your speaker question. Your rear back stock speackers are 5X7 and the front speakers i believe are either 5 or 5 1/2. You have a preamplified system and when you change your speakers, check behind the right rear speaker, its feels like a huge amp. if u change your system, the best option would be to rewire your speaker straight to your deck. i installed my deck to the amp, and it really sucked, there's a lot of static, and its gets toooo loud too quick. hope that helped u out. nathan 93 SE no muffler crackin system Oly WA

Did you try checking your cap & rotor? I'd complete the ignition system diagnostic & maintenance first since it is the cheapest & easiest to do before you worry about looking at the other systems in the car. I had some mild clunking sounds in the front also when I turned the wheel. It turned out to be bad lower control arm bushings. Once I replace them the clunking sounds went away. :-) -Lino Sacman, SCPOC Hybrid '93/'95 Rio-Red PSE, 5-spd

It had a new rotor a year ago- the cap I'm not sure. Maybe I'll try a new cap then.
