Hello,

I have a 2001 Yellow ZX3, and it is fairly new (2000 miles). To me, (compared to other cars I have driven), this car seems to rumble alot on the steering wheel, and also it seems is rumbles/shakes in the interior on the freeway. Naturally, I'm gonna check the tire pressure, and take the car to check the alignment and all. Im just curious if anyone else sees this in the focus, compared to other cars like the Honda Accord. Thanks, and other than that, great car for the money.

I don't know what kind of tires that your car
came with but mine came with Firestone 205-50-16's
and when you get a car equipped with low profile
tires, the trade off is the ride and steering feel. Until I replaced my tires with yokohoma's
I hated to drive the car on the expressway, because of all the wheel shake...with the Yoko's
it drives better, but that's just the nature of
having big tires on a little car, that doesn't
have a lot of refinement built into...I love mine
too, but I just wish the gas mileage was better..
21 mpg with this last tank, but I do drive it
hard because of the low end torque.

Actually, I do have the low profile tires with the 16" rims, you think that could be the possible explanation??

I've got the low profile Firestones too, but my steering wheel doesn't shake at all. Could it be the roads? Here in the Northwest they are always expanding our roads so they always seem new. Maybe that's the difference? But, I'd think if the wheel shakes a lot at higher speeds, the wheels need to be balanced.

Maybe its the fact that Firestone tires + Ford do not a good combination make. My car has standard Goodyear Eagle RSA tires and the ride is smooth and super quiet on the highway. Its even quieter than my friends 1998 Saab 900 Turbo - but not quite as fast!

I drive a 2001 ZX3 and I have the same problem, (and I even got my Balancing checked out). My Dad also owns a Focus (4-Door) and his car does the same thing. I dont know what to do. But if anyone figures this problem out ley me know!!!
