Hi all. I wanted to get the experience of any of you that run your 4wd at highway speeds. Our explorer manual said not to, and I know most older 4wds shouldn't be run at highway speeds. The truck I'm looking at is a 98' extended cab 4wd w a 4.0 or a 3.0 (hopefully the 4.0) Also, how stable are these on the highway in the rain? You see, I drive 100 miles a day, and I currently have a fwd pontiac, and it likes to hydroplane from time to time. Not the best tires but they are brand new. I'm really looking for a little older splash ex-cab 4wd, but they are very hard to find. Chris Robertson christopher.t.robertson@...

Chris, As far as the 4wd goes, I would only use it as long as I absolutely had to. It seems that just too many gears are turning too fast for long time use. As far as handling goes, mine had to be aligned at 40K and it seems to me like there is a lack of feel in the steering wheel on straight roads. Even after the alignment it reminds you of a vehicle that is slightly toe-out. Cross winds can make you nervous at times but rain isn't all that bad. It handles good on curvy roads though! Ryan
