What consequences, if any, may I experience by running a single engine belt rather than multiple belts for the alt, pump, etc?

Personally I prefer multiple belts. That way if a single component fails I can pull that belt and still limp home. My 1969 Bronco has air and I like the option of being able to disconnect it by removing the belt. My other car (a 1981 AMC Eagle) has a serpentine belt and at 130,000 miles it's never let me down, so my fears are unfounded?
