Very tired.

Pictures of the Safari Light Bar are now in the photo section under Safari Light Bar (strange enough)

The spoiler didn't get put on, but is looks great in the box.

Very long story about deicing planes, strong head winds, running low on fuel and landing at another city, the gate not working to let us off the jet, accessory guys not figuring out how to put the spoiler on, running out of daylight to take good pictures, rock chip in my windshield.

Anyways the Safari Light Bar is finally on. I really like it. Pictures are poor because they were taken in a parking lot, on a dirty Escape, with a flash from a poor camera. Will take better ones in the next few days.

Very tired.

Gary

Nice looking Safari bar Gary! I especially llike the look in the third and the last pictures. How about a picture from about 45 degrees off center showing the bar and the entire vehicle? This would really show off the looks of both the Escape and trhe Safari bar.
Now I just want to see Anne Marie's smiley faces!

Janice

P.S. (I still like my WAAG "Urban Assault Vehicle" look better) LOL

I will be posting hopefully much better pictures in a few minutes as soon as they pop up on the net.

I have to admit, due to my shorten time frame, I had the accessory place put it on, ($25) however I watched and it was a very simple bolt on. They had it on in about 15 minutes. They had it up on a lift to give easy access to put it on, but I fiqure 20 to 30 minutes tops, if not less. Adding the lights took them longer.

Gary

Gary: Lights and Bar look good.....might be something I would consider, but really I think something like that would look good on the wife's Sportage, as she does not have the 4x4, thus no stock fog lights....showed her your pictures....now I'm waiting on some pics of the spoiler.......Dennis

Hi Dennis. Lots of lights to choose from to add from fog to distance to just brighter white close in. It is really easy to install. The cost was pretty reasonable for the Bar. The lights can be cheap or very expensive.

I thought that you would notice the antenna. I really like it. Thank you again.

Gary

Great looking front end on that Escape, Gary.

And speaking of antennas, do you still have one of the black ones for sale?

Dennis sent me four. One went to Ottawa, one to Oakville, one to Winnipeg and I have the fourth. Sorry I don't have any others at this time.

Another poster mentioned that he got a black one from Canadian Tire and I believe that Anne-Marie mentioned that she also saw/had a similar one.

Gary

Cost of the Westin Safari Light Bar: (All dollars mentioned will be in U.S. dollars.)

I bought the Safari Light Bar at Canadian Tire for $103 which includes the bar and the mounting kit. The Hella Micro FF lights cost me $163 installed.

I found the costs cheaper than some U.S. accessory sites such as http://ustruckaccessorieswhse.com/wes-saf1.html The bar at that site costs $148.50, the mounting kit was 23.75 and they wanted $26 for shipping to the States. That's a total of $198.25.

It cost me $25 Cdn to have it installed but it would be simple to install yourself, there are three bolts for each of the two mounting brackets. Two of three bolts are used to attach the bracket to the tow hook. The third is used to attach the bar to the mounting bracket. It is very straight forward. No cutting or drilling required. Just six bolts. The photos show the head of one of the mounting bracket bolts.

Thanks for the suggestion of painting the bolts black, I may just do that.

I also really liked the look of the PIAA 520 series lights which are round and have the cage around them. They actually were my favourite looking light, however they are very expensive and although they produce a very white light they do not produce a light which carries for any great distance. I wanted a more reasonably priced light that would shine out for at least 1100'.

I will take your suggestion and add a reference to a post in the club greeting.

Thanks for the compliments and the suggestions.

Gary
