A good rule of thumb that I go by is the following; I
use fire wood but sand bags would do the same thing,
logs about 18 inches long stacked in a single row to
the top of the bed rail at the tail gate. Sand bags
would be about the same I suppose. When I have it
loaded I use a cargo net on the cab side of the wood
or in your case sand bags to keep it from shifting to
the front of the bed if I stop too quickly on dry
pavement. That seems to work for what ever size truck
that I have been driving. Good Luck With It!!!
